PROTECT WOMEN’S HEALTH AND RIGHTS WORLDWIDE

PROTECT WOMEN’S HEALTH AND RIGHTS WORLDWIDE

Featured10 comments

Women’s rights are under severe attack. Access to health care including contraception and abortion as well as childcare, housing, welfare and other benefits are being slashed across the country. While an alarming number of rapes and sexual assaults are occurring every minute, states with anti-abortion legislation and the limiting of social services have attempted to curtail our hard fought fundamental rights in the form of control over our bodies. Following defeat after defeat, on February 28, 2013, a bipartisan Congress passed an extension of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, which extends and strengthens protections for all victims of violence, including students, racial minorities, immigrants and members of the lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender communities. This is a victory for women. It does not go far enough, however.

NA’AMAT USA applauds the Congress for its ability to set aside partisan differences and pass this important piece of legislation. After delegations from around the world gathered at the United Nations headquarters to support the elimination of gender-based violence against women and girls, we call upon you, Secretary of State John Kerry, to help ensure that the United States continues to be a champion for women’s rights. We ask that we not permit opponents of women’s health to monopolize the discussion. Comprehensive health care is too important a right to be ignored.

Please join NA’AMAT USA in protecting women from violence and ensuring our reproductive rights are a top priority for women around the world and here in the United States.

In 1928, Golda Meir was elected National Secretary of Moetzet HaPoalot (Working Women’s Council), which required her to spend two years (1932–34) as an emissary in the United States.

As one of the early great pioneer of  NA’AMAT’s beginnings, we owe great grattitude towards her and other powerful American and Israeli women who helped form our great nation of ISRAEL. We also owe great gratitude for Golda’s leadership paving the way for Jewish women around the world. READ MORE
